They don’t refer to their favorite musicians by name, but initials.

Their cars are named by chassis code, not year/make/model.

They refer to the engines that power said automobiles by their manufacturing codes, not their “common” name.

So you don’t have a ‘99 civic hatchback with an ‘08 Civic Si 2.0/6 speed swapped in.

Engine and model codes are useful. Unfortunately they aren’t always very informative as the codes can include submodels that might have significant differences.

In my garage I have six engines: XK4, 20NE, C20XE (two of these), LL8 and 12A. One of these is in pieces and only two of these are actually mounted in a car. Outside the garage you can also find engines XK (two of these), F3R, S38B36 and EZ (EA827).
